STEM EMPLOYABILITY AND SKILLS EVENT THURSDAY 25/05/17

I would like to invite you and your child to attend an event that we are hosting from 5pm - 7.30pm on Thurs 25/05/17. This event is focussed on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We have a variety of speakers who will be discussing these subjects within our curriculum and the employment opportunities that are available on a local and national level.

The event will allow you to find out more about the activities that happen within these departments here at The Blyth Academy both at present and the plans for the future.

Science, Technology and Mathematics faculties will be taking the opportunity to showcase some of the project work that has been completed over this academic year. You and your child will also be able to speak with our students from different year groups so that you can hear a student's perspective about their "STEM" experiences here at the Academy.

In addition to the work completed daily within our school, The Blyth Academy is also pleased to be working as part of an Employability and Skills project group.

This project group is in partnership with The Blyth Quays Trust primary schools and is focussed on increasing employability and skills to help fill local "STEM" jobs by local people. Due to this partnership we have been able to reach out to further organisations attached to these subject areas.

There will be a guest speaker from the North Eastern Local Enterprise Partnership who will be discussing local job opportunities and the ways in which our children, parents and carers can move into this field of work.

To confirm your attendance please find attached the required form and complete it at your earliest convenience. Please return the form via your child to The Blyth Academy reception or provide the requested information via email to [email protected]

Refreshments will be provided.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Miss S Ramsden
