Summer GCSE Exams

Dear Parent/Carer

As you will be aware from the exam timetable you received in February, the Summer GCSE exams are now a matter of weeks away. The first exam takes place on Friday 5th May 2017, which is the second Friday back after the Easter holidays.

To support your child in achieving their very best, staff have been working hard to prepare students for the challenges ahead by offering progress clubs, half-term revision sessions and timetabled Period 0 and Period 7 intervention, which takes place before and after school.

Building on the improvements with the 2016 examination results, we hope that this Year 11 will be our most successful year group yet, and the commitments shown by our students so far has been excellent.

On Wednesday March 29th 2017, The Blyth Academy will be holding a Parent & Pupil Revision Event, from 4.30pm until 6.00pm. This will be an opportunity to help you understand the demands of the new GCSE exams, to speak to staff from the core subjects about your child's progress this year, and to provide you with ideas and strategies for how to support them over the coming weeks with revising and preparation. We will also give your child some examples of techniques to help them revise.

Snacks and refreshments will be available on the evening. If you are unable to attend but your child would like to come alone, they are very welcome to do so.

Yours sincerely

Mr Ian Turner
