Duke of Edinburgh Awards Night 2018

DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD'S EVENING WEDNESDAY 9TH MAY 2018

On Wednesday 9th May 2018 The Blyth Academy hosted a presentation evening event for students who had successfully completed a Duke of Edinburgh's Award over the past twelve months.

There was a fantastic turnout from students, staff, parents, governors and members of the community who helped to celebrate the phenomenal achievements made by students on their DofE journeys.

Including the Awards given out in May 2018, we have given out 67 Awards since we began running the scheme in September 2015. In the current academic year the scheme is expanding again with 65 students involved in expeditions this summer. For the first time ever we also have a group of sixth-form students progressing onto their Gold Awards after finishing Silver.

At the event we also gave out some Special Awards for students who went above and beyond in three set areas. These were for students who particularly excelled for their work in the local community in Blyth, or for showing resilience and determination, or for demonstrating leadership qualities whilst on their expeditions.
