School Physicist of the Year

On Tuesday 19th June a student of The Blyth Academy was presented with the School Physicist of the Year Award 2018 at Northumbria University.

The event, hosted by The Ogden Trust and NUSTEM, was in recognition of the talent of exceptional students studying physics across the region. The awards ceremony was a great opportunity for the academy to formally and publicly recognise excellence and effort of Y10 students.

Samantha Reay was nominated by Mrs Wendy Cooper, Faculty Lead - Science for her exceptional talent in Physics. Mrs Cooper, who attended the event with Samantha's mum, said "I was delighted to nominate Samantha for School Physicist of the Year Award because of her hard work, determination and natural talent for physics. She is a credit to the Science Faculty and The Blyth Academy.

Samantha was presented with an Excellence Certificate and a book token to the value of £25, funded by The Ogden Trust. As a prize-winner, Samantha is also eligible to apply for events and other programmes offered by Alumni Association.
